Can I bring a calculator? [The Institute of Actuaries of Japan Qualification Examination]

Items that meet the following conditions may be brought on board.

(a) A calculator with a built-in power supply and only the four arithmetic operations, root calculations, and numerical memory functions. However, percentage, constant calculation, consumption tax calculation, business calculation (cost, selling price, gross profit rate), currency conversion, number of days calculation, and time calculation functions are permitted.
The use of devices with the following functions is not permitted.

  • A so-called scientific calculator with COMP, CPT, and STAT keys.
  • Functions that record on paper, and functions that emit sounds (scales, voices, etc.) (including those with the ♪ mark)
  • Program input function, etc.

(b) The area where numbers are displayed is roughly horizontal, and the character display area is one line.

(c) The external dimensions are not too large (approximately not exceeding 20 cm in width, 20 cm in depth, and 5 cm in height).
